1. Timing chain (1.2 HTP). Ask for proof that the chain was checked or replaced. Bad result: no proof and no answer.
2. Ignition coils (petrol). Start the engine warm and listen for misfire or stalling. Bad result: a misfire. A scanner shows the fault codes.
3. Windows and central locking. Use every window switch and the central locking, from the key and from inside. Bad result: a window drops, sticks or stops, or the doors lock or unlock on their own.
4. Suspension. Check the tie rods on a lift. Bad result: knocks or play.
5. VIN check. Ask a Skoda dealer to check the VIN for the driver airbag and fuel pump campaigns and service action 97J7. Bad result: an open campaign.
