1. 1.3 CDTI: Listen for a metallic rattle from the timing cover on a cold start. A scanner shows a timing deviation; above 2 degrees, repair is advised, above 3 degrees it is required. Chain kit 850-1,200 EUR (Germany, year not stated).
2. Electric power steering: With the engine running, heavy steering or a steering warning light is a bad result. Use a scanner. Diagnosis 120-220 EUR; replacement and coding 480-780 EUR (Germany, year not stated).
3. 6-speed manual: A hum from the gearbox at about 60,000 km or more is a bad result. Bearing repair costs 30,000-60,000 RUB (Russia, year not stated).
