- Years: 2016 to today. Facelift in 2020. SQ2 with 300 PS.
- Reliability: 4/5. About 96.5% of Q2s pass the first inspection without defects. Brake discs are the main fault.

- Biggest risk: the brake pedal weld recall on 2020 cars. Check it first.
- Prefer: a car with full service history and dealer proof that recall work is done.
- Avoid: open recalls and cars with no service records.

- Measure the rear brake discs and look at the pads. Bad result: worn-down discs or pads. A rear disc change costs 251-487 EUR (Germany, year not stated). Rear changes need a scanner to open the electric parking brake.

In detail
Brake pedal weld recall 46I7
The weld between the brake pedal and its plate can break when the pedal is pressed suddenly. The plate can then come off completely. The cause is the weld joint. The EU alert names cars built from 6 July to 30 August 2020, 7,389 vehicles worldwide. The fix is a recall from owners. The repair is not stated, and no price is confirmed.

Brake discs and pads
Brake discs wear early. Inspection reports name them as the main fault of the Q2, and recent press reports say the same. A garage guide adds that rust builds up quickly after a short standstill and causes dull brake noises. The cause is wear and rust. The fault affects all Q2s. The fix is new discs and pads. Rear discs need a scanner to open the electric parking brake before the change. A parts portal gives 340-629 EUR for the front and 251-487 EUR for the rear (Germany, year not stated; the example car is a 2017 Q2 1.4 TFSI). Revised parts are not stated.

Parking brake release recall
The electric parking brake, a motor-driven handbrake, can release by itself after a cold start. The cause is not stated. The fault affects 1.0 TFSI cars with a manual gearbox, built from February 2016 to June 2018. The fix is not stated, and no recall code is given. A 2025 press report lists five Q2 recalls, including unreliable electric parking brakes. No price is confirmed.

Fuse box plug recall 97HO
A plug connection on the fuse-carrier supply line was fitted wrongly. It can come loose and lead to failure of the engine, the instrument cluster or the lights. The fault affects right-hand-drive Q2s built from 2019 to 2023. The fix is to check and secure the plug connection. The revised parts are not stated, and no price is confirmed. The German motor authority (KBA) lists the recall under reference 013099. The UK list uses reference R/2023/254.

A side blade on the C-pillar can partly detach from the bodywork. It can come off while driving and endanger the cars behind. The cause is not stated. The fault affects Q2s built from 11 October 2016 to 11 June 2021. The fix is not stated, and no price is confirmed.

Headrest weld recall 72H9
The headrest fitting may have been welded wrongly to the backrest. This limits headrest protection in a crash. The cause is the weld. The fault affects Q2s built in calendar weeks 22 to 31 of 2018. The fix is not stated, and no price is confirmed.
